When you've made postings to as many boards as I have now (not as many as some I'm sure!) it's hard to know which ones to go back to. i think it would be good if there could be some automated system in place that sneds an email alert or privatee message to alert posters that additional postings have been made to boards they have contributed to.
I also think that there could be an automatic system for displaying an accessible alert of some description when a quicknote aimed in your direction is sent, whether private or public. It would interrupt what you were doing, but you wouldn't have to keep checking either!

I especially like your first suggestion about alerts for new posts to a topic. That would save having to check on the boards all the time.
The second suggestion is okay, but I doubt I'd use it. If I expect heavy traffic, I just go to the console.

The first suggestion is a good one I think too though I'm not sure if it will ever be implemented because it has actually been suggested before on the boards, before my time as a community leader I should add, but nothing was ever done about it. I'm not sure for the reasons for it's being rejected so, when I get a moment to myself, I will bring this up on the staff list again to see what is said.
The second suggestion however I'm not in favour of. We already have the quick note console in place for this type of thing. If you don't wish to use the QC but are still too busy to refresh regularly then you probably are too busy to be logged in in the first place. Sorry if that sounds patronising however we don't encourage people to just log in and then not take part with what's going on in some kind of way, be it posting to the boards, playing the games or indeed just chatting in quick notes.
That's my take on all of this anyway. Keep bugging me with regard to the first suggestion though because I am extremely busy at the moment and am likely to forget otherwise.

basically, it's a forum program you see on many sites coded in PHP.
i agree with the first suggestion. most other forums i go on have automated reply alerts, and i think this should be no different. however, i don't like the second suggestion very much and agree with what dan said.
OK, from what's been said I can see my second suggestion wouldn't be needed, but definitely got to push for the first one! If most forums have that acility, so should this one.
